Description:

Join WIN as we discuss breaking the “model minority myth” and finding success.  We’ll be reading excerpts from “Fresh Off the Boat” by Eddie Huang and “L.A. Son” by Roy Choi.  Huang and Choi are chef célèbres known for their inventive spins on traditional Asian cuisine and their aggressive attitudes against being considered a member of the “model minority.”  East Coast (Huang) and West Coast (Choi) meet at this WIN(e) dinner where we will discuss breaking the model minority stereotype and this breed of Asian American entrepreneurs who were former druggies, convicted drug dealers, compulsive gamblers, and wanton degenerates before finding their respective paths to success.

Men and women are welcome to join this off-the-beaten-track discussion. Gabe Foo, general manager of Susanna Foo Gourmet Kitchen, will be one of the moderators.
