Financial Development Program (FDP)

The Financial Development Program (FDP) is CIGNA’s premier rotational program for outstanding MBA candidates who aspire to join a growth-oriented company and take part in the healthcare industry revolution. We are committed to recruiting, motivating and nurturing the best and the brightest, whether you have industry experience or not. Your skills, experiences, talents and creativity enable us to develop the meaningful, innovative solutions our customers value and expect.

Using a best-in-class competency-based development model, the FDP challenges its associates through four highly-cross functional rotations that each typically span up to two years.  We work with you in devising these rotations: work experience, career goals, and CIGNA’s business needs drive rotation selection. Over the course of five to eight years, you will gain the competencies, confidence, and organizational support to fill key leadership positions across the enterprise and will be rewarded consistently and rapidly over time.

The FDP further cultivates business acumen through structured trainings that will help you learn more about the industry, our culture and our strategy. The program offers periodic leadership assessment and coaching feedback, as well as a robust mentorship program that provides the opportunity to learn from mentors at multiple levels of the organization and gain exposure to senior leadership and broad networking opportunities. Within the FDP, there are no limits to the opportunities to learn and grow as a leader.

Key tenets of the FDP experience include:

 Three to four rotational assignments ranging 12-24 months in duration, aligned to CIGNA’s growth strategy and your personal development goals

 Accelerated professional development with high visibility to company leadership

 Exposure to senior leaders with focused mentorship, leadership coaching, and professional networking

 Direct and quantitative impact on business results

 Understanding of key stakeholders within the healthcare ecosystem, as well as our diverse customer segments and distribution channels

 A supportive and vast community of FDP alumni

 Outreach through community service and charitable events

Initial rotations can be in one of the following locations:

 Hartford, CT

 Philadelphia, PA

 Nashville, TN

As our associates progress, they may pursue opportunities in other CIGNA locations throughout the U.S. and possibly international rotations outside the U.S.





 Masters of Business Administration with 2-4 years of professional experience

 Initiative and dedication to growth into a multi-talented business leader

 Evidence of strong analytic problem-solving abilities, innovative thinking, communication skills, and business acumen

 Proven track record of delivering results and influencing across a matrixed organization

 Desire to pursue a career in the healthcare industry

 Aptitude to work in a variety of functions and environments, with strategic and global mindset
