Responsible for leading a small team of Supplier Diversity professionals in developing and delivering on a sustainable growth strategy that will increase diverse supplier awareness and spend across Cigna.

General Description:

At Cigna, we strive to make our supplier base more reflective of our customer base. We achieve this through following the Moore Model for Supplier Diversity.

The incumbent will need to:

  • Build and execute on an enterprise strategy (vision) that achieves a 10-15% Tier 1 diverse spend.
  • Establish and deliver on diversity spend targets by national supplier categories with actionable insights at both the Executive and Senior Leadership Level
  • Partner with Sales to corporate an actionable diverse supplier strategy within their Localization efforts.
  • Graduate our inaugural Mentor Protégé Supplier class and incorporate lessons learned into Cigna’s next generation class of Protégés and Mentors.

Demonstrating the ability to thrive in a well-developed matrix management culture, inclusive of strong influencing and negotiation skills, are required to be successful across this organization.

Limited travel is required for this role for both national and regional events.  Additionally, strong analytic and reporting skills to understand spend forecasting and track key performance metrics are critical.

The role is flexible with location; however, the applicant will be working alongside the Sourcing, and Sales Leads in Hartford or Philadelphia.   There is also an advantage for the role to be located in key markets such as Tennessee (Memphis), Texas (Dallas, Houston), Florida, Mid-Atlantic or Chicago

 

Responsibilities:

  •       Establish an enterprise strategy (vision) that achieves a 10-15% Tier 1 diverse spend.
  • Establish and deliver on diversity spend targets by national supplier categories with actionable insights at both the Executive and Senior Leadership Level
  • Oversee partnership with Sales to corporate an actionable diverse supplier strategy within their Localization efforts.
  • Oversight of Cigna’s Mentor Protégé Program, inclusive of graduating our inaugural Mentor Protégé Supplier class and incorporate lessons learned into Cigna’s next generation class of Protégés and Mentors.
  • Ensuring that each team member understands their role and contribution level through well documented goals, inclusive of connectivity between team members.
  • Executing on Cigna’s Connect for growth strategy to ensure each associate is being challenged and striving to push themselves professionally, as measured by employee satisfaction via skip level dialogues
  • Accountable for all Supplier Diversity reporting, analytics and insights
  • Manage the Tier 2 reporting program;
    • Increase Cigna suppliers who report their direct and indirect spend with Cigna,
    • Drive compliance for suppliers committed to report and
    • Deliver on committed reporting to Cigna clients within the agreed timeframe.
  • Continually drive team improvement, optimization and collaboration (people, process and technology)
  • Financial acumen in building, managing and maintaining a budget.
  • Build relationships with diverse organizations, attend industry conferences, join committees and meet suppliers.
  • Introduce potential diverse suppliers to key business partners

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA, PMI Certification or Six Sigma training also valued.
  • 10-15 years of experience in Sourcing (Category Management), the healthcare industry or Supplier Diversity strongly preferred.
  • Excellent oral, written presentation and communication skills.  Strong executive presence.
